Oculoplastic Surgeon

Dr. Anne Rowland knew from an early age she would one day work in medicine. Over time, it became clear that oculoplastics surgery was her true calling.

“Even as a child I was detail-oriented and liked to make the world more beautiful,” she said in her office recently. “I think it often irritated my teachers when I would spend an inordinate amount of time perfecting my school projects, even something as silly as designing T-shirts.  But my parents were always encouraging and patient, and had faith that I would someday put these traits to good use.”

Those qualities plus what she saw as the “certain elegance” of eyelid surgery and care — in minute suturing and tissue repositioning — ultimately led her to a career in the reconstruction and cosmetic rejuvenation of the eyelids and face.

Education

Dr. Rowland’s education includes graduating Cum Laude from Dartmouth College, obtaining her M.D. at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completing her residency in Ophthalmology at Louisiana State University.  Seeking advanced training in ophthalmic plastics surgery, she moved to California to study under Dr. Kimberly Cockerham.
