"When patients leave my office I want them to feel that they were listened to, that all of their questions were answered, and that I was able to guide them through the treatment process."-Dr. Rowland

Removal of Blind or Damaged Eye

When an eye can no longer see, it can sometimes become painful. The painful eyeball is removed and replaced with a sphere implant. The eye muscles are connected to the implant to allow for its mobility. The covering of the eye is then closed over the sphere implant. Patients are typically seen a few days after surgery, 1 week after surgery and 1 month after surgery.

You will be wearing a clear piece of plastic under the eyelids called a conformer. If healing progresses as expected, you will then be referred to an ocularist who will fit and custom paint a prosthetic to match your other eye.
